Caroline contacted the studio to schedule a newborn session, and was excited to hear that we had a studio wardrobe available. As brand new moms, sometimes the non-maternity clothes we have in our closets don’t fit right away, and who wants to go shopping immediately postpartum?!
On the morning of their session, Caroline and Michael arrived at the studio with baby Clara in tow. We discussed whether they wanted Clara to wear headbands or not (they chose a mix of with and without) and Holly looked through the studio wardrobe. She settled on a beautiful flutter sleeve dress with dot detailing that I just love and commented on how comfortable it was to wear. Caroline had also opted to add on makeup services for her session, so she settled into the chair while I took baby Clara to the newborn shooting room for her solo portraits. Clara flew through her portion of the session as she was a very sleepy baby, and we finished up just as Caroline’s makeup application was completed. After a short nursing break for Clara and a quick diaper change, we began the family and parent portion of the session. I always love watching new parents with their brand new baby! I guide you through each part, and make sure to help tuck stray hairs or adjust clothing as needed so you can focus on holding your newborn. The family portion is generally the easiest part of our time together - it consists of you admiring the amazing little human that you welcomed into your family. Since you’ve basically been doing that since you first laid eyes on them, you’re already a pro. I make sure you don’t give yourself a double chin while doing it. ;)
